Mindfulness Retreat for Families

This family retreat offers an opportunity to celebrate and nourish our families and ourselves on the beautiful Northern California coast. We will create a memorable weekend of self-exploration, creative expression and nature awareness. There will be space to connect as a family unit and create a larger community, as well as time when children and adults meet separately. The practices offered in this workshop will encourage us to embody what is learned and remembered in our daily lives.

Adults will be guided through meditations and practices that support personal and parental mindfulness. We will also make time for discussions on the balance of work, family and the inner landscape. Children will learn and discover through games, movement and the arts. We will investigate tide pools, meet the horses and spend time on the land, bringing awareness into all of our fun.

From the rocky cliffs and sandy beaches to the grassy fields and starlit night, we will explore the beauty of this living coastline and the seasonal life of the Wild Tender Ranch, a local home to rescued horses. This workshop is open to individuals and families of any background, with children ages 5 and up. Younger children may be permitted with permission of the instructors. Educators and people working in related fields are encouraged to apply. We will be camping beneath the late spring stars and sharing a healthy, farm fresh lunch, dinner and Sunday breakfast. A portion of the proceeds from this workshop will benefit Wild Tender Ranch.

Scholarships are available.

$150 for adults and $50 for children.

What is included in the price of a trip?

Back to Earth Outdoors provides delicious, organic, local, and lovingly prepared meals both at retreats and in the back-country; Back to Earth Organic Catering and Gather Restaurant both emerged out of the meals prepared on Back to Earth Outdoors trips. We also provide all group gear including water purification, first aid supplies and trained responders, instruction of the highest caliber, guides with experience and passion, and tents to clients who request them.

What’s not included in the price of a trip?

Because people fly from all over the world and travel from all over the country to join Back to Earth Outdoors we do not generally provide transportation to and from the starting points of our trips. We do however offer our time and energy to help organize carpools for those who are interested in reducing transportation costs and carbon emissions. Clients are also asked to bring their own backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and other minor personal effects such as a bowl and spoon for meals. With prior arrangement we can however loan backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, water bottles, bowls, spoons, and mugs. These supplies are limited and loaned on a first come basis.

What are the accommodations?

Our accommodations for this trip are the soft earth and the company of plants, animals and the night time sky, be it filled with stars or the light of the moon.

Where does my trip start?
